ProSearchAI

A contractor’s tool, kept honest by running a contractor on it.

ProSearchAI is built and run from Utah by the people who use it every day to run an electrical contracting company.

The story

Kevin Steed did his apprenticeship and a decade as a foreman before founding KRS Electric in 2017. KRS is a family-owned commercial, industrial and mission-critical electrical contractor headquartered in Apple Valley, Utah, licensed across the Mountain West, with about forty people in the field. The work is fuel stations, medical buildings, small data centers, lift stations and water-treatment plants: design-heavy jobs where the answer to most field questions is on a sheet, in a schedule, or in Division 26.

Every job arrives differently. One GC runs Procore, the next runs Autodesk Construction Cloud, a third emails a Bluebeam link, and the owner’s engineer sends addenda as PDFs with new sheet numbers. The documents are all there. Finding the right one, from a phone, in a trailer, with a crew waiting, is the part that costs money. Add the office questions that come in every week about PTO, per diem and whose forklift card is about to lapse, and a lot of people are spending a lot of time looking.

The first version was a Streamlit app Kevin built for KRS: upload the set, ask the question, get an answer with a citation. The foremen used it. What they asked for next was the drawings read properly, because a panel schedule is a picture, not a paragraph, and voice, because gloves. That became ProSearchAI: a rebuilt product with vision-indexed sheets, a real page viewer, an HR base, certifications and contacts, and a price a forty-person shop can justify. KRS still runs on it. When a citation points at the wrong sheet, the people building the product hear about it from their own crews.

What we believe about this software

  • An answer without the page it came from is a rumor. Every claim gets a citation, and the citation opens the page.
  • Drawings are documents too. If the search cannot read a panel schedule, it cannot help an electrician.
  • Everyone should be allowed to ask. Pricing per seat is how a foreman ends up without a login.
  • Documents come from every GC. The tool has to take whatever they send, in whatever format, and keep it in one place.
  • Your documents are yours. They leave any time, and they are never used to train anything.
